Thursday, May 2, 2002, at 06:51 AM Two New EMU's Coming! UO and DAoC! Posted By n/a SMALLWORLD. -Guid- | ↑ | It has been brought to my attention that two new emulators soon to become available. One is a new Ultima
Online EMU and the other is a new Dark Age Of Camelot EMU.
The Dev teams for both these new EMUS are getting their websites put together and should
be available soon. You can however click over to SmallWorldServer and visit their message boards.

SmallworldServer UO Emulator () Site Temp Down
Smallworld is a brand new UO emulator that is currently being written! It
has some features never before seen on a UO Shard. Probably one of our best
features will be the multiversing feature. I will explain it:
Administrators will be able to directly link their shards using moongates.
You will be able to walk through one gate and end up in another shard.
This is the only new feature we can currently release information on at this
time. More will be released as the code becomes more complete."
CAoC (no web site yet):
"The DAoC emulator is called CAoC temporarily, and is written under the
Smallworld Emulation Network. The team is headed by Ivel. Currently, their
is no site, but in the Smallworld forums, alot of progress is happening!"
When these sites get up and running I'll put links to them under the respective EMU options on the
SA's menu.
Good luck to both new EMU's!
| Friday, May 3, 2002, at 06:35 AM SmallWorldServer Upcoming Features Posted By n/a SMALLWORLD. -Guid- | ↑ | More information on SmallWorld Server has been posted for public consumption on the SmallWorld Server
General Forums. Here is some basic information:
- It's written in C++, we're not sure on the scripting language.
- Multi-Versing: It will be possible to move from one SWServer to another SWServer
seamlessly while remaining in game.
- Multi-Map: SWS will support multiple maps. Meaning you can have several different
full sized custom maps on one server.
- Multi-Threaded: To take advantage of SMP (symertrical multi-processor) situations.
- Completely Scriptable: 99.99% of the emulator will be completely changeable via script.
Exceptions to this are TCP/IP things, Syntax, Encryption and a few other things.
- New Client: SWS will have it's own client which supports all versions of Ultima Online.
The client will be able to send new packets for new features we have written; built in IRC,
Server Administrator, and other things.
- Module Support: Somewhat different than a script, you will be able to write your own
(or download official ones) modules. These are basically special packages which attach to
the server and have a large effect, or ad a completely new feature or whatever.
- Built In Patch Server: If your shard has custom mul files, the client will automatically
compare your files with the files on the server and if they are different it will update
them. This can be disabled via the client.
