Tuesday, Feb 3, 2004, at 07:24 AM Iris 0.5.5 Released Posted By n/a IRIS -Guid- | ↑ | Ultima Iris 0.5.5 has been released:
Iris 0.5.5 is now out, you can get it:
New features include useable backpack and paperdoll, customizable maximum zoom, new art, and various other small fixes.
As with last release, only third dawn or LBR will allow you to see character models, however Johwood has made a new granny.xml
that will allow AOS users to see clothing at least.

Just thought you may like to see the latest screenshots at
http://thorgrim.sytes.net
As you can see some progress has been made on model support. Third dawn model support is almost complete, and AOS model support
is going well too. Currently most models work for AOS, however the textures do not display quite right yet, but once they do, a
new release will be out as soon as possible for all those who are stuck with only AOS
With the next release, I have been thinking it may be nice if we may have some kind of organised Ultima Iris tournament. If you
are interested in hosting a temporary Ultima Iris server (Probably Sphere 55i or something would be best as it is still currently
the best supported by Iris) then reply here, or e-mail me at thorgrim.sytes.net. I was thinking auto accounts and GM stats, with
nice starting equipment just so people can log on and have a quick bash

Hi folks, we are still alive, and are making decent progress. See the new screenshots in the gallery for more details ;) 0.5.6
will be available for public download soon, and will offer some nice features like fighting and crafting. We decided to make our
code changes more public, so we moved our cvs to sourceforge, where anybody can download a nightly build.
If anyone wants to contribute, feel free to contact us, there are several items on the todo list, so any help would be great.

Tensor recently got sidetracked, and added 2d rendering as an option for Ultima Iris.
Don’t worry, 3d is still being worked on
Ultima Iris 2d engine will have all the scripting abilities of the 3d version, so you can have all the custom gumps and other GUI
features you want. It also supports roof fading, zooming in (much better looking than the OSI zoom feature) and will hopefully
have the soon to be added particle system. As well as all this you can play at any resolution you want.
This new 2d option is great for those with lower spec computers ( I was getting a respectable 100 fps average at 1024x768 ) and
for those of you who have custom 2d tile artwork and such on the shard you play, you can now view at whatever your monitor and
graphics card can handle ( I found 1600x1200 to be sufficient for me )
